10 Questions with Chris Reynolds

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hi, I’m Chris Reynolds, but most people call me Bear. I’m the photographer behind Art of You Boudoir, and photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a creative household—my mother a painter, my brother an artist—I found my own artistic voice through photography. But boudoir photography? That became something far more meaningful.

What drew me to boudoir wasn’t just the artistry—it was the impact. Over the years, I’ve seen how transformative it can be. I’ve watched clients walk into a session feeling nervous, unsure of themselves, and leave with a new sense of confidence they hadn’t felt in years. It’s not just about capturing beautiful images; it’s about helping people see themselves in a way they may have forgotten or never fully embraced.

I understand what it’s like to struggle with body image. Living with Celiac disease changed the way I saw myself—it forced me to recognize my body for what it endures rather than just how it looks. That shift in perspective shaped the way I approach boudoir photography. It’s not about perfection; it’s about strength, confidence, vulnerability, and self-acceptance. Whether you’re preparing a special gift, celebrating a milestone, or simply doing this for yourself, my goal is to create an experience where you feel valued, comfortable, and truly seen.

2. What is your experience shooting boudoir?

I’ve been a portrait photographer for over 10 years, with the last six focused exclusively on boudoir. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with women at all stages of life, each bringing a unique story and a deeply personal reason for stepping in front of the camera.

I’ve photographed brides surprising their fiancé with something intimate and unforgettable, capturing the excitement and anticipation of their new life together. I’ve worked with wives celebrating milestone anniversaries, creating a deeply personal gift that honors their love and journey. I’ve had the privilege of photographing mothers embracing self-love after years of putting their families first, and women reclaiming their confidence after major life changes—whether that be a career shift, a personal achievement, or overcoming past traumas.

Some clients come to me to capture a bold, empowered version of themselves, while others seek to document their journey of self-discovery and acceptance. No matter the reason, my approach to boudoir remains the same: it’s about connection, confidence, and authenticity. Every session is a collaboration, crafted to bring out your unique beauty and personality. Whether you envision something soft and romantic or bold and sultry, I tailor the experience to reflect who you are.

Boudoir is more than just a photoshoot—it’s a transformative experience that allows you to see yourself in a new light.

3. Where will the photo shoot take place?

Your boudoir session takes place in our private luxury studio in Round Rock, TX, just a short drive north of Austin. Designed for both comfort and style, it’s a space where you can feel completely at ease while enjoying the experience.

We’ve created multiple stunning setups to match different aesthetics and moods, ensuring that your photos reflect exactly what you envision for your session. Our Bridal Glam Set is light, airy, and timeless, featuring soft golds, whites, and creams for an elegant, romantic feel. For those who prefer a more moody and dramatic look, our Dark Boho Vignette offers deep tones, rich textures, and intimate lighting that evokes passion and sensuality.

We also offer a Studio Lighting Setup, perfect for artistic nudes, silhouettes, bodyscapes, and fashion-inspired boudoir photography. Think timeless black-and-white celebrity portraits, Calvin Klein-style editorial shoots, and striking images that highlight the beauty of the human form in an artistic and sophisticated way.

In addition to these styled sets, we have classic backdrops in white, black, and gray, ensuring a clean and modern look. Whether your vision is soft and romantic, bold and sultry, or sleek and editorial, our studio is the perfect space to bring it to life.

4. How should customers prepare for the Boudoir photo shoot?

Preparation is key to feeling your best during your boudoir session, and we make the process simple with our exclusive Boudoir Prep Guide. This guide covers everything from outfit selection to skincare tips, ensuring you feel confident and ready for your shoot.

When choosing outfits, I always recommend selecting pieces that make you feel amazing—whether that’s lace, silk, oversized sweaters, or even nothing at all. Pampering yourself beforehand can also make a big difference. Since this is an experience meant to celebrate you, consider treating yourself to a manicure, taking a relaxing bath, or doing whatever helps you feel your best.

Most importantly, come with an open mind. Nerves are completely normal, but trust me—once we start, you'll have so much fun!

This session is about you, and my team and I are here to make sure you feel supported, empowered, and excited every step of the way.

5. Will there be a hairstylist and make-up artist?

Yes! Our luxury boudoir session includes professional hair and makeup to ensure you feel incredible before stepping in front of the camera. Whether you prefer a soft, natural glow or a bold, glamorous look, our stylists work with you to enhance your features while keeping your vision in mind.

For mini-sessions, hair and makeup services are available as an add-on, allowing you to customize the experience to fit your preferences.

No matter which package you choose, our goal is the same: to ensure that you feel like the best version of yourself.

6. What do you do to make your customers feel comfortable for the shoot?

Stepping in front of the camera can feel vulnerable, but I promise—you’re in good hands. My team and I create a relaxed, judgment-free space where you can feel completely at ease.

Before we start, we’ll discuss your comfort level, preferred poses, and any specific requests you have. I guide you every step of the way, demonstrating poses, adjusting lighting, and ensuring you look and feel amazing. We keep the atmosphere relaxed and lighthearted, with music, some refreshments, and plenty of encouragement. You’re not just doing a photoshoot—you’re embracing a part of yourself that’s ready to be seen and celebrated.

7. Are pictures printed or do you provide a digital file?

Every boudoir package is customizable, with options for luxury albums, digital images, and printed artwork. Your images are professionally edited to maintain the highest artistic quality.

To maintain privacy and personalization, all image selections take place in person during your private reveal session, where you’ll choose the products that best suit your style, occasion, and personal taste.

8. What happens on the day?

Your boudoir session is designed to be a fun, uplifting experience. We start with professional hair and makeup, giving you time to settle in and feel your best. Once you’re camera-ready, we ease into the shoot with guided posing and a supportive, relaxed atmosphere.

You don’t need any modeling experience—I’ll walk you through everything. My goal is for you to leave the session feeling amazing and excited to see your images!

9. Where will the photographs be used?

Your privacy is my top priority, and your photos will never be shared publicly without your explicit written consent. If you choose to allow select images to be featured, they may be displayed on my website, social media, demo products for the studio, art galleries, or submitted for photography awards. However, the decision is entirely yours, and I respect every client’s personal preferences when it comes to image sharing.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

Due to the custom nature of this type of work, all sales are final. Products, images, and artwork are non-refundable.

If you need to reschedule, we ask for at least 48 hours' notice to do so without any fees. Rescheduling within 48 hours of your session may result in your retainer being retained as a cancellation fee to cover preparation costs and lost business opportunities.

For cancellations made at least 14 days in advance, your non-refundable session retainer can be applied as a credit toward a future boudoir or portrait session, minus a $99 administrative fee.
